The GSSA Country Builders High Performance Centre has been established by Paul Wozny, Burnley Football Club’s Head of Youth Development for Australasia, to develop and deliver a specialist coaching unit in consultation with the GSSA to provide a sound technical foundation for male and female players between the ages of 5 and 17 years of age. These have been developed as individual based squad programs and are independent from any Club involvement.
The HPC player program runs in four blocks of seven weeks each, during each school term. It is designed to give players a sound technical base in a structured and appropriate manner, with focus on making each session challenging, varied and fun. This provides a perfect opportunity for fast progression whilst instilling in the players ‘good habits’ thus developing competent players in the future. Each individual is placed into a group that suits their current ability level and playing ambitions and will challenge their skills, while allowing for continual progression.
The program is directed by:
Paul Wozny - Formerly Football West National Training Centre Head Coach and Regional High Performance Consultant and recently appointed Manager of Youth Development-Australasia for Burnley Football Club.
James Young – Qualified Physical Education Teacher, high performance football coach and a specialised conditioning and SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) instructor.
The program is run at a local level through Head Coach, Andrew Walsh, and assisted by highly qualified local coaches who follow a set of technical programs that have been set down by the directors, Paul and James, in line with the Football Federation Australia National Curriculum.
